KLIFF 2009 To Attract Over 30 International, Regional Speakers

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Over 30 international and regional speakers are expected to present their views on Islamic banking and finance at the sixth Kuala Lumpur International Islamic Finance 2009 (KLIFF 2009), which will be held on Nov 2-6.

Among them are Sheikh Nizam Yaquby (syariah scholar, Bahrain), A. Rushdi Siddiqui (global director, Islamic Finance Thomson Reuters), Dr Aznan Hasan (syariah advisor, Bank Negara Malaysia), Dr Mohd Daud Bakar (chief executive officer, International Institute of Islamic Finance) and Datuk Yusli Mohamed Yusoff (chief executive officer, Bursa Malaysia).

In a statement, the secretariat said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has agreed to officiate the KLIFF's main forum on Nov 3.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, will be guest of honour at KLIFF Islamic Finance Awards while Second Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah, will officiate KLIFF Syariah Forum 2009.

Deputy Finance Minister, Senator Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussein, will deliver the keynote and official opening addresses for the Takaful Rendezvous 2009 Forum.

Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will be guest of honour at the dinner and will present the awards.

Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will attend the dinner as a special guest to receive award from Malaysian Takaful Association.

KLIFF 2009 is organised by the Centre for Research and Training in collaboration with the Malaysian Takaful Association, Messrs Hisham, Sobri & Kadir and the International Institute of Islamic Finance.
